It is said the Coração de Viana was born in 18th-century Portugal, when Queen Maria I commissioned a heart in gold from a master artisan in the North of Portugal, in gratitude for the birth of her son.
The heart left palaces and churches and entered Portuguese life, treasured and passed from mothers to daughters. Centuries later, it is still made by hand, using filigree techniques preserved by Portuguese artisans for generations.
Why there’s a list
The royal home of Portuguese filigree
When I created Fado, I travelled north to Póvoa de Lanhoso in search of the finest filigree craftsmanship.
What I found were families, not factories - generations of artisans keeping this centuries-old craft alive by hand. I chose one of Póvoa’s oldest family workshops for the way they preserve the traditional Heart of Viana: handmade, curved and full of depth.
Each batch takes months. That is why the next release will be very limited — and why Portuguese families are invited to choose first.
— Tânia B.Founder, Fado Jewels
For generations, the Heart of Viana has been part of Portuguese family life. Let it become part of your family’s story.
